First Step Georgia also offers support services to children and young people with disabilities who live with their families but benefit from a range of projects run by the charity.

Most of the families face serious financial difficulties. First Step Georgia eases the struggle of their daily life, helping them live more healthily, more enjoyably and with less stress. The organization also provides these families with necessary medicines and food and household products once a month.

This help is enough to allow disabled children and their families to live in better conditions and fosters the normal development of the children.  In order to extend such help to as many needy families as possible, the organization established a friends’ club network which so far helps six families.

Lisa Kaestner, who is a board member of First Step Georgia, helps Niniko and her family. Niniko was returned to her family home from the Kaspi Orphanage with First Step Georgia’s aid and support. The amount donated by Lisa once a month is used for Niniko’s various needs depending on assessment of social worker.

First Step Georgia staff members help sister and brother Niniko and Zviad who used to live at the organisation’s residential cottage until they were returned to their family home. Our donation helps the family to pay the bills in winter or to buy other necessary things.

Four other families are aided by people who simply want to be part of First Step Georgia’s efforts to improve life for disabled youngsters and their families.

Ana Tsagareli works at Magti phone company, where she and her colleagues help two children, Tiko who lives in Tbilisi and Tamuna who lives in Khashuri.

Natia Sartania and her friends help a girl called Mariam and her family. Natia was an intern in our organization and since then has continued to work with us and help our children.

Nino Kvavilashvili and her friends help Sopo, who lives in Kareli (East Georgia) in a very poor family.

The money donated by each of the organization’s friends is transferred to the partner family’s bank account once a month. Once in three months a social worker sends reports about the progress of the children and their families to the donors.

There are lots of families who need help. If you want to participate in creating the best possible living conditions for these children please contact us.
