International Music Festival “Night Serenades” in Batumi 23-27 August 2009
For peace in the world
World famous performers make music to help First Step Georgia
Some of the world’s top musical stars shared their gifts with audiences at this festival organized by one of Georgia’s greatest musicians. The performers joined many others in showing that they too believe that every child is special and that children with special needs deserve special love and care.
The festival was directed by Liana Isakadze, the woman credited with establishing the tradition of classical music festivals in Georgia in the 1980s. Isakadze, who also performed at the festival, is counted among the world’s top 20 violinists.
Among the stars Isakadze invited to perform were internationally recognized musicians such as pianists Alexander Korsantia and Tamar Licheli, conductors Gintaras Rinkevich and Nika Memanishvili, violinist Frederieke Saeijs, viola player Michael Kugel, percussionist Jeffery Kowalsky and trumpeter Sergei Nakariakov
The proceeds of the first concert of the festival were donated to children with special needs at First Step Georgia and the organization would like to extend sincere thanks to Liana Isakadze, all the participants of the festival and all those who bought tickets for the performance, as well as to Mr Michael Kugel for his personal financial contribution.
