Meg's sale

I had the idea of doing some fundraising for First Step some time ago as my Dad often tells me stories of his trips to Georgia and the conditions the children live in. He told me about the appalling conditions of the original orphanage and how much the situation has improved for the kids as a result of all the good work done by everybody who works for the charity. It was this really that spurred me on to fundraise some money for the charity. I got thinking of what would be the most productive idea. In the end I decided on a clothes sale as I though it would be a fun and successful way to bring in a lot of people and make some money for First Step. Myself, my friends, my sister and my mum told all our friends and in the weeks leading up to the sale we collected clothes. Some clothes shops in our area even donated some new clothes as well as some designer dresses! On the day of the sale we turned my house into a vintage boutique and organised all the clothes on rails which were lent to me by a friend who works in a for a fashion designer. We also had a raffle on the day of the sale with some great prizes such as meals in restaurants and hair cuts and some other vouchers. We made nearly 3,000 euro altogether and I would definitely have another sale for First Step in the future.
