Brief Overview of the Training Course of FIRST STEP GEORGIA

The goal of the training direction at First Step Georgia is to impart concerned individuals and organizations the knowledge and skills needed to serve persons with special needs and familiarize with local/international practices and methods.
Users of the training course are:

  • Parents (guardians/caregivers) of children with special needs;
  • The following persons of the governmental and non-governmental organizations working with people with special needs
    1. Administrative segment;
    2. Teachers;
    3. Educators;
    4. Specialists: psychologists, social workers, occupational therapists, etc;
    5. Medical personnel.
  • Personnel of childcare and education institutions.

Main Moduls:

1. Principles of care for the disabled people;
2. Person Centered Service;
3. Preparation of an individual development and service plan;
4. Management of challenging behavior;
5. First aid and healthy lifestyle;
6. Principles of occupational therapy;
7. The rights of  children and the disabled;
8. disabled people  and social work.

Additional Modules:

1. Effective communication;
2. Stress management;
3. Crisis (traumatic and development) and challenges associated with them.

FIRST STEP GEORGIA’s training course is flexible in terms of topics as well as time and resources. Concerned organizations may choose modules as needed.
